photography

These are some pictures I've taken for photography...i rather like some of them.

Currently we're working on making collages with Photoshop. Photoshop is daunting. The program itself is so complicated and does so much that you, the user feel some pressure to make something amazing with all the tools available.
Anywaaay I spent a weekend on the first page of my book and I'm still not done with it! I've started drawing the second page in my sketchbook; it's much more detailed, and I like it... Don't think about the time crunch.

ALL SYSTEMS GOGOGO

O dang I really need to get a move on with my concentrationnnnn

In every work of genius, we see our own rejected thoughts; they come back to us with a certain alienated majesty

Things I Love Thursday

Newspaper class
This is the one class where I feel like I always get something done, and I LOVE doing layout. Just so anyone who reads this knows, writing an article is no where near as difficult as designing the layout of a page. There are a lot of little things to keep track of, and so far, in the two issues we've done so far this year, my pages have kicked a LOT of ass. So, the page an article is on was probably not designed by the person who wrote the article. And on stay late days, we order pizza. Pizza tastes 235986358926 times better at 5pm in the library for some reason.

Michael Chen
This is my cousin. (SORT of.) He's awesome and really fobby and has little eyes. He's an avid member of the Serious Film Club and he is 14. No, actually he's 16, but in my mind he's 14.

The pair of shorts I'm wearing right now
They're knee length so I don't look completely stupid for wearing shorts during the onset of winter. I made them out of a pair of pants that I didn't like anymore, but now I like them again because they're no longer the same. I gave them a makeover. It's like recycling. Oh!

Recycling
I love recycling!!! Particularly reusing or reducing, not so much actually recycling. I take the ziploc bags that wasteful people intend to throw away at lunch, and I reuse them, rinsing when necessary. Why would you use up at least 3 plastic bags a day and throw them away when they're perfectly good for another day?? Oh and I save all the paper I use from school that is blank on the back side and I run it through the printer ONE MORE TIME. It's awesome. Then sometimes I print out short stories by JD Salinger and I don't have to feel bad because I'm using 100% reused paper.

Korean
I taught myself how to read (most of) the korean alphabet a day or so ago, and now in English class Holly writes me sentences and I decode them. Korean is kinda hard to pronounce, but it's so fun...

Random hobgoblins:
USB cards, Rilo Kiley, feeling proud to be American (!!), weight lifting (I'm doing reps of 60!), trolling on facebook, Weston Cooper, my friends from camp (amy and carmen and victor and vincent), Hannah Goodman singing, big cups of water, Clif bars and my concentration so far.

I am way excited to have 3 periods of art tomorrow and experiment with water colors!!!!

story line

LOL
The AP US seminars I did best on are the ones I didn't entirely read!!

I have my concentration story line mostly mapped out...
Meehab and Abdul-Jahid live in a desert with a ridiculous name where they transport and sell exotic fruit.
On their trips, Abdul-Jahid starts coughing and sneezing a lot, so Meehab takes him to see dr. ridiculous name.
Dr. ridiculous name says that Abdul-Jahid is allergic to sand.
They decide they have to move, so they pack up and set off.
First place they go to is some place with a ridiculous name, but it's too cold.
Next place they go to is some other place with a ridiculous name, but the local food is too strange.
Then, they to some place with a ridiculous name where they can't find any exotic fruit.
After that, they go to a place with a ridiculous name that is very dry and sandy.
They get tired of traveling around and feel rather hopeless but try one more place.
This place is different. Although there is sand, Abdul-Jahid doesn't act allergic because the sand is wet. There are also beautiful sunsets and very tropical exotic fruits and the weather is very agreeable. (It parallels Hawaii.)

I still have to map out exactly 12 frames, minus one or two for the cover(s?). sweeeeet
tips for happiness!

qu'est-ce qui est arrive??

"...I heard an owl, away off, who-whooing about somebody that was dead, and a whippowill and a do crying about somebody that was going to die; and the wind was trying to whisper something to me and I couldn't make out what it was, and so it made the cold shivers run over me. Then away out in the woods I heard that kind of a sound that a ghost makes when it wants to tell about something that's ion its mind and can't make itself understood, and so can't rest easy in its grave and has to go about that way every night grieving" (5). The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Good news:
I have a story line for my concentration! It's vague, but it's there, and it's thanks to the McBride who is so good at thinking outside of the box, and inside the sketchbook.

Bad news: I went to try and sell ads for the AP poster today, and didn't sell a single one to any of the 10+ businesses I approached!! They all care about Lakeridge football but not the art department...who happens to kick a lot more ass than one measly game won against Pex Rutnam...

and I'm writing an English essay...but i found a really sick quote!

story book

Well, I just wrote the rough draft of my essay for photography on Andy Goldsworthy...I haven't written an eloquent, flowing essay like that for a while, and it makes me happy that I wrote it for photography and not for any other class.
As for my concentration, I went to Borders today and looked at a lot of children's books. Halfway through flipping through them, I figured I was supposed to be paying attention to the story lines and not so much the illustrations, but I found a lot of inspiration in terms of composition (it hadn't occurred to me to do pieces stretching over two pages) and medium (one book I looked at had paper with the consistency of corduroy, but paper). Later I was inspired for story ideas by thinking about specific little friends in mind that I might write a book for.
I think it'll take a while for me to come up with a story line, but I do think it will be worth the extra time because after I get a story down, I can plan out what the pieces are going to be, and that'll probably save me from agonizing over what the next piece to work on will be...

tell me your thoughts.
